Should I talk to the insurance company?
Of course you need to give the insurance adjuster your contact information, but be careful of those who like to show up at the accident scene. (You've probably seen their SUVs around town.) You may discuss what has occurred but wait until you know whether you've been hurt—often injuries will not show immediately. Our firm has encountered adjusters who state they “have taken a statement at the accident scene. Our client said she was okay so we will not pay for her injury.” Actually, our client had not spoken to the adjuster and she was not okay.
